A French Film Mini-Fest!
March 6 - 20

What do French films have to do with a Jewish film festival? They provide a unique perspective on the French-Jewish experience. The Santa Fe Jewish Film Festival explores this perspective in THE JEWISH EXPERIENCE IN FRENCH CINEMA, a mini French film festival that runs from March 6 to March 20 at CCA. Regional premiers, director interviews, and a talk by Dr. Gunther Jikeli on France and the new Antisemitism are just part of the mix. "All film" passes are available.

Our French film mini-fest kicks off with a documentary that shines light on Jews in France today, followed by a talk, JEWISH IDENTITY IN FRANCE AND THE NEW ANTISEMITISM. Our speaker is author and lecturer Dr. Gunther Jikeli who is a visiting professor at Indiana University’s Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism.

Bernard Natan was one of the fathers of French cinema whose name has since been forgotten. He experimented with early color, sound and widescreen processes, worked with some of the greatest filmmakers of the era, and produced over 60 feature films. NATAN makes its regional premier at the Santa Fe JFF.
